I played basketball for the last 4 years of high school in Sydney, Australia. I loved the game for the friendships I formed, the way it felt when you successfully pulled off a difficult shot or a fast break, the shared jubilation of a win, and supporting each other when disappointed over a loss (we had plenty of those). I also coached the year 10 girls team in my last year at high school. A couple of seasons with a community club were fun, then university and playing music took over.

My family moved to Älmhult in 2021 when my wife starting working for Ikea of Sweden. Our son Noah joined Beasts P14 team the next year and I started getting involved by driving a minibus to tournament, manning the score table or streaming video for home games, etc. Mia invited me to join the board at the end of the 2022/23 season, which I accepted and have thoroughly enjoyed. I’ve made some great friends in the club, and it’s been very rewarding watching the players develop not just in their basketball skills and teamwork, but also their character, emotional maturity and resilience.
